Employment Specialist / Job Developer P.R.I.D.E. Program Rochester School for the Deaf
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts, Social Work, Psychology, Education, Rehabilitation Counseling or a related area. - Two or more years experience working with adults with disabilities such as: blindness, deafness, developmental disabilities, substance abuse, mental health diagnoses, learning disabilities, traumatic brain injuries etc. - Sign Language proficiency is preferred - Excellent communication skills, particularly written communication skills - Computer Skills including utilization of Microsoft Office Suite - Must have a valid New York State drivers license and vehicle available - Work experience with DHHS, Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid, Unemployment, Section 8, VESID, OMRDD and OMH services OR previous experience working as a job coach preferred. - Knowledgeable of the philosophy of Supported Employment - Experience working with competitive employment sites / employers to develop job placements for adults with disabilities. Knowledgeable of Job Development techniques and practices - Position requires ability to be able to occasionally flex some hours into evenings or on weekends
Description: - Complete interest, functional or situational assessments with participants referred for Supported Employment Services - Assist participants with identifying appropriate employment goals and creating or updating resumes - Develop job placement sites for individual participants referred for placement - Develop a variety of situational assessment sites to allow participants to experience work tryout activities - Build and develop relationships with a variety of employers in the Rochester area for future job placement activity. Create and Maintain employer files with information for future reference - Accompany participants to employer sites for tours, to complete employment paperwork and to facilitate communication during job interviews. - Place one or more program participants into competitive employment of their liking every month. - Bill approximately 40 hours of intensive service activity monthly. - Maintain progress notes on all participants during pre-employment, job development and interviewing/placement and intensive training stage as needed - Attend employer orientations at placement or assign a job coach to attend an orientation with a participant. - Complete VESID monthly summaries on participants involved in the following phases of intensive services: Vocational Assessment / Situational Assessment, Job Development and Job Placement prior to stabilization. - Review Job Coaching notes for all participants engaged in Intensive Coaching Services - Work with job coaches to determine when participants are ready to transition from intensive to extended coaching services and are "stabilized" ie: are trained and stable on the job. Get review documentation from employer to back up stabilization decision. - Complete Intensive Service Plan and Extended Service Plans for all participants in the program. Update Extended Service Plan at individual's annual review or as needed. - Act as liaison to VESID counselor on behalf of a participant if additional services or support is needed in the intensive services phase. - Collaborate with and assist job coaches working with individual participants in intensive services. - Fill in as a job coach (intensive or extended services) on an "as needed" basis. - Collaborate with Case Manager and Program Coordinator regarding participants needing case management services (ie: financial, housing, advocacy, mental health or other supportive services) during job placement and intensive coaching phase. - Assist and problem solve on job sites where participants in intensive services are working. - Track and submit monthly hours spent interfacing with participants in extended services. - Track and submit progress notes and weekly hours spent working with participants in intensive services for billing purposes at the beginning of every week. - Maintain up-to-date documentation and recordkeeping (including release- of -information forms), on services and advocacy provided for program participants receiving intensive services. - Attend relevant education and training sessions relating to job development and supported employment for professional development purposes. - Attend weekly staff meetings with Case Manager and Program Coordinator. - Collaborate with Program Coordinator, Case Manager and other Job Coaches to provide quality services for all program participants. - Attend monthly meetings with Job Coaches - Other job duties as assigned
