Windsor Mountain International Summer Camp is now accepting applications for the position as summer staff counselor for our 2008 season. Our preferred applicants are Deaf/HoH ASL fluent, with a background in child care/education. Staff members will be required to teach classes on Deaf culture, ASL, ASL theater, poetry, ABC stories, number stories, Deaf jokes, etc. Experience with other activities (art, theater, sports, water sports, dance, music, etc., are a plus. Staff members are responsible for a small group of children (4-8) both hearing and Deaf.
Our Deaf staff is made up of experienced Deaf counselors, interpreters, guest artists and performers. The program provides a unique opportunity for Deaf and Hearing to interact in a safe environment, promoting cultural exchange and early learning of the maxim that "Deaf people can do anything except hear."
- This is a mainstreamed camp.
- Each year, we have 8-12 Deaf campers, 2-4 Deaf Staff members, and up to 13 interpreters.
- In addition, Windsor Mountain has 150 hearing campers and 60 hearing staff members
Dates this year are July 20th to August 22nd. This includes a week of orientation.
Room and board are provided. Salary is dependent on experience.
Must be willing to work with intern interpreters.
